As we look to the future, we anticipate several priority initiatives that will require investment for SALA to continue to prepare outstanding graduates with the necessary design, technical and intellectual leadership that contributes to a built environment supportive of civil and sustainable patterns of living. Please consider supporting SALA in the following priority areas:
Building Campaign
SALA, in partnership with the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP), is undertaking a renovation and building expansion that complements the School’s presence in the Frederic Lasserre Building. The new facility will develop the urban potential of the site, while invigorating the adjacent public realm. The expansion will better enable collaboration on creative work among programs, attract outstanding student and faculty applicants in an increasingly competitive market, and help nurture, develop and enable dialogue and exchange between the School and the professions, the wider university community and the public.
Arthur Erickson Lecture Series
An annual tradition since 2007, the School invites an internationally renowned design professional to Vancouver deliver a free lecture for students, alumni, faculty, the local design community and the general public. By fuelling the public discourse surrounding design issues, we strongly believe these educational and social opportunities will strengthen the profession and lead to a greater common understanding of the needs and benefits of design, not only for our communities, but holistically for our society and environment. The School is committed to maintaining this lasting tribute to Arthur Erickson and therefore seeks to establish an endowment to support the lecture series in perpetuity.
